Takoma Park, a free-spirited town, with its own mayor and council, is an architecturally eclectic area just north of DC on the eastern boundary of Montgomery Co. Long known for civic activism like its “nuclear free zone” designation, the area has been a natural draw to those who have artistic and naturalistic endeavors. Small non-chain stores on the thoroughfares provide the shopping. There are several rental developments, some condos and townhouses, but mainly houses of all shapes and sizes. Vintage home loves enjoy this area. The railroad station/Metro stop area is a natural gathering place for community activities.
